NCAA RULES COMMITTEE ADOPTS NBA’S RESTRICTED-AREA ARC
The NCAA Rules committee has approved the expansion of the Men’s basketball Restricted-Area Arc from 3’ to 4’. According to the NCAA, the new markings will measure the same as the current NBA Restricted-Area Arc: “To be consistent with the NBA’s line, our rule will reflect that that the new men’s arc shall be drawn as a two-inch line with the INNER edge (as opposed to the outer edge like the 3’ arc) of the line measuring 4’ from the center of the basket. “ The Women’s line will remain at 3’ measured to the outer edge of the line.
